“Having grown up in Sicily, I have always lived in the presence of two volcanic eruptions of the Etna volcano. I have always been fascinated by the orange hues emanating from it. I found that the relative calmness of the volcano before it erupts resonated well with my generally calm temper, but capable of exploding without warning. Being an avid diving enthusiast as well, I reached out to Skeleton Concept to customize my Rolex Deepsea 116660, incorporating the mesmerizing orange color of molten lava into it.” Mr.B.C

Inspired by the mesmerizing Volcano Etna in Sicily, our client, also a fervent admirer of the captivating depths of the ocean, embarked on a personalization journey with us. Entrusting his cherished Deepsea® timepiece, the one he wears most often, he expressed his desire to keep its nautical essence while infusing it with a touch of orange from the lava or the Etna. 

The project’s foundation lies in the color orange. Our client desired to capture the serenity of the Etna volcano, the tranquility that precedes a storm. Diverse shades are seamlessly integrated with a range of materials, united by meticulous handcrafted touches such as beveling, polishing, and circular-graining.

The intricately designed dial was meticulously reworked, featuring diamond indexes that harmonize with the steel movement.

To enhance the exceptional transparency of the timepiece, we incorporated a sapphire crystal date disk, a discreet element that adds a touch of refinement. The creation of this component alone demanded 40 hours of incredibly meticulous craftsmanship.

With our client’s vision in mind, we diligently achieved a harmonious blend of sportiness and elegance in their personalized piece. Our skilled artisans painstakingly reworked each element of the 3135 movement. Some components were rhodium plated, while others were encircled and carefully hand-polished to impart a lustrous finish to the modified caliber. The plate, cut with precision, underwent a grey coating. Taking hundreds of hours to complete, the Deepsea Concept stands as a remarkable testament to technical and aesthetic mastery, embarking on a true journey into uncharted territory.
